Bruce Byers – NYC Street Photographer of the Unseen Moment

Photographer Bruce Byers has spent more than 50 years quietly capturing life’s most fleeting, heartfelt moments. As the world rushes by, his lens pauses — noticing what most overlook: a child’s wonder, an old man’s quiet thoughts, the joyful reunion of long-lost friends, or a fleeting juxtaposition that disappears in seconds.

Hill Street Gallery is a curated art space located at 65 Hill Street in Catskill, NY. The gallery was established by fine art photographer Bruce Byers and his partner Jeanne Byers, with a mission to showcase compelling visual work that bridges history, place, and technique.

Though Bruce founded the gallery, he is not its sole focus — he is one of the artists represented by the gallery, alongside others working in photography, illustration, printmaking, and ceramics.

You’ll find Bruce Byers on the streets and out-of-the-way places of the world, photographing people and places. A professional photographer for over 40 years, he is passionate about using his camera as an emotional lens to capture beautiful, surprising, and unexpected moments. 

Our destinations are remote and exciting. 

But that's not the only reason we're fascinated with them. 

They’re also some of the most extraordinary places in the world – 

mysterious, romantic, exotic, and exquisitely beautiful.

We could say they’ve changed so little because they’re timeless to begin with. But the fact is, some of them will, for better and for worse, embrace the 21st century in the near future. That’s why it's so special to us to document and share these fragile, anachronistic ways of life in unimaginable places while we still can. And we'd like to invite you to join us on these exciting adventures.
